About

I am Billy Mays III, only son of the late pitchman Billy Mays. This blog is a place for me to post all of the interesting things I've found that respectfully pay tribute to my father's memory or otherwise reference his public persona.
Enjoy.

So, where exactly *IS* Billy Mays?

Well, there are a few ways to answer that question.
Firstly, I'm right here.
Sorry.  Technically, I'm Billy Mays III.

You'd probably say - "I mean the guy with the beard who yells at me to buy stuff on T.V."

Well, that guy is my dad.

He passed away in his sleep on June 28th, 2009.

Technically, he was Billy Mays Jr.  So there.

Almost immediately after my dad's passing, (I won't use the word 'death' because of its sorrowful connotation in society) the team at Sullivan Productions got these stickers printed of his face.  The image was drawn by Jess Saxon, husband of Arwen Saxon. (Producer/Director at SulProd)

The stickers were originally handed out at a small gathering at Sully's house for production-crew-friends of my dad.

Later that week at the funeral, the Sullivan Crew brought a huge box full of the stickers and handed them out to EVERYONE.

Shortly after, my followers on Twitter began asking about how to get one.

So, we ordered about 2,000 more and tweeted an address to send a SASE to get them.

Before long, people began taking pictures of all the different (sometimes funny) places they were putting their stickers.

Then, TMZ ran a story about "The sticker craze that's sweeping the nation."  It was then that I knew I had to take this opportunity to keep my dad's essence alive.

For those of you didn't know him personally, I can tell you right now that you would've loved him.  There weren't many people, upon meeting him, who didn't enjoy his company.

My dad was the type of person who would actually listen to your story, whether he was talking to a fan at a crowded airport or a longtime business partner.

His story isn't too boring in itself:

In short, he came from humble beginnings (like most) and ended up becoming a memorable figure in popular culture.

I hope that when you're placing your sticker, you get a positive feeling knowing that you're continuing the legacy of a good man.

My dad had the kind of sense of humor where he was in on the joke.  He knew that his image was funny and he didn't mind poking fun at himself.
So, as you participate in this little tribute, do it with a light heart.

As for me, I'm beyond proud of my dad's ENTIRE LIFE.  He lived his life with blistering passion and a rare generosity.  I had 22 amazing years with him and he taught me a lifetime's worth of lessons in a quarter of the time.

To you, the reader, thanks for helping me honor my a-Mays-ing father.

I was so glad to see you on our news! Then when I logged onto twitter I saw the link so I checked it out again. Unfortunately, I read some of the comments people left and it made me cry. I cannot believe people can be so cruel and awful. I live in Tampa and a few years ago, I happened to be in our airport, TIA. I saw some people buzzing about and thought wow a celebrity...so I wanted to see as well. If you can imagine my thrill to see it was a celebrity, it was Mr. Billy Mays! I cannot ever forget his face, he had a smile a mile wide and although people were milling around him he was so cordial and nice. Larger than life and just seemed to beam, you know? I never missed an episode of Pitchmen and in fact that show enforced just what I thought. Billy did believe in his products and did the research so he didn't put his name on crap. Regardless of anything, a man lost his dad. I don't care if he was loud, annoying or whatever A MAN LOST HIS DAD!! I love seeing Billy on commercials and I know he would be so proud of you and your smile when you speak of him warms my heart. Please know that Billy was very loved and respected and I have you in my prayers. Thanks for keeping Billy with us and continuing the legacy that he wanted to leave.

I am glad you are doing a Halloween contest. It shows your imagination of turning something negative into a positive. Your father must to have been a amazing man. Sorry for your lost. I lost my father to prostate cancer about 8 years ago. Keep up the good work and can't wait to check out more of your web site and music.

This is a great way to keep your dad's memory alive. I lost my mom when I was 17 years old so I know how hard it can be. Always remember the great memories you have of him. :)

Just wanted to say I love your site, a great tribute to your Dad.
As I was surfing around one day I saw the Billy Mays caps lock key and thought that was the funniest damn thing!
Now I found your site and think it's great, your Dad would be very proud.
I never heard of the PitchMen show before, so now I'm definately going to look it up.
Take Care!

That was one of the most touching things I have ever read. It is not often that we get to hear the human side of the people we come to idolize or relate to in pop culture. Your father sold quality products on TV with the best schtick I have ever seen. He was, and always will be, an icon. It is wonderful you will continue to carry on his name and this site is a wonderful tribute to his accomplished, loving, and supportive life. I will put my stickers in the most fun places ever. Keeping you and your family in my heart, -JC

B3, the only thing your dad did better than 'pitch', was raise an incredible son. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he is very proud of you, and knew his legacy was in good hands. Every once in a while, someone comes along that stands head & shoulders above the rest. Your father is one such man, and deserves to have his memory kept alive. Billy Mays II was full of life and had a smile that could light up the world, and to allow his light to fade would be a shame. So to echo the words of others.....Thank You for creating this website, and giving your father's fans a place to join you in keeping his light shining bright. You're doing a great job!!!!! The world is a better place because of Billy Mays II. Thank you. ***Fan For Life, Tami :)

I feel so far behind. I was watching PitchMen today, and it was the last episode of the season, and I had no idea he had passed. It made me super sad. I always found him immensely entertaining. :) Hope you are doing well.

Your dad's story help to save my life. I too use to have undiagnosed hypertension - my numbers were TOO high! Now I am receiving medical care for this. Billy seemed like a really great guy, giving, and in my case even in death. I wish him and the rest of your family much peace. I'm sure his soul, essence, light - whatever you want to call it is still continuing to enrich the lives of others ....

Hey Billy, I just wanted to let you know that people are still thinking of you, anthony and your father. I have a couple questions:

1) what happened to Pitchmen? (Discovery listed season 3 a while ago)

2) What is your opinion on the YouTube Poops about your father?

A True Fan,
